Description:
An Early & Very Scarce U.S. Civil War Military Issued Sharps "John Brown Type" Model 1853 Percussion Carbine In Excellent Untouched Condition! Early Serial #9076, all matching numbers. Made 1854-1857. The carbine has excellent metal, markings, and edges. The barrel retains most of its original blue finish with some small areas turning to a natural plum patina. The frame and tang have darkening original case colors on them. The carbine has early brass hardware including its original patchbox, butt plate, & front barrel band. It is U.S. Sub Inspected. The carbine has fine to excellent original wood with nice edges. There are couple of spots with small dings. The backside of the wood stock opposite the lock has a clear "R.H.K.W." U.S. Inspecters cartouche on it. The carbine has a fine bore and action. There were about 250 of these scarce military carbines issued as well as the 400 Rare "John Brown" & "Beecher's Bibles" Carbines that were recorded. This Is An Excellent & Very Scarce Example Of A U.S. Civil War Military Issued Sharps "John Brown Type" Model 1853 Percussion Carbine In Wonderful Condition!
