Developed by Walther Arms in 1931 as a more compact version of the PP, the PPK was designed for plain-clothes police officers, hence the \"K\" for Kriminalpolizei. The pistol gained notoriety during WWII for its use by Nazi officials and high-ranking officers, and its association with Adolf Hitler‚s suicide. The PPK also became famous through its adoption by James Bond, who switched to the pistol after originally using a Beretta.
