An Early & Very Desirable U.S. Civil War Military Issued Whitney Model 1841 Percussion Rifle Dated 1850 In Nice Untouched All Original Condition. All original and complete. The rifle has very good metal and markings. It is marked on the lock in front of the hammer "E WHITNEY/US" & behind the hammer, "NEW HAVEN/1850". The top of the barrel is marked, "US/SM/VP". The tang is also dated 1850. The barrel on the rifle has a mix of thinning original brown that is mixing with a natural patina. The lock shows mottled case colors also mixing with a natural patina. All of the brass hardware is fine throughout with a wonderful color. All of the wood on the rifle is very good to fine throughout with nice edges and a wonderful color to it. There are two U.S. Inspectors Cartouches on the backside of the wood opposite the lock. All screws on the gun are very good to fine. It has a fine bore and action in it. This Is A Very Early & Very Desirable U.S. Civil War Military Issued Whitney Model 1841 Percussion Rifle Dated 1850 In Very Nice Untouched All Original Condition. These Early Whitney U.S. Civil War Rifles Were Used Early In The War And Are A Very Much In Demand!
