Description:
This is an excellent West Hurley Auto-Ordnance Model 1928 Thompson Submachine Gun, a fully automatic .45 ACP “Tommy Gun” in clean original condition. It retains virtually all of its original dull brush blue finish (typical of West Hurley production), with only minor handling wear here and there. All factory markings are sharp and clear. The receiver is correctly marked with the model, caliber, and serial number on the left side, and “AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION, WEST HURLEY, NEW YORK, U.S.A.” on the right side. The famous Thompson bullet logo is present on top of the receiver and on the Cutts compensator. The wood furniture (detachable buttstock, vertical foregrip, and pistol grip) is genuine walnut and also in excellent condition with only light handling marks. Mechanically, this Thompson is in excellent working order. It features the correct dual selector switches on the left side (separate levers for Safety and Fire mode), which function perfectly. The finned barrel with Cutts compensator and the adjustable rear sight are original and intact, exemplifying the classic Model 1928 configuration. The bolt, internals, and springs are all clean and properly functioning, and the action cycles smoothly. The bore is similarly excellent, bright with strong rifling and very minor signs of use. Comes with four original 30 round stick magazines and one original 50-round drum magazine. Fully transferable on a form 4. The earliest known production of these West Hurley examples was 1975, with production on this one likely dating from 1976-1978.
