"An unusual matched pair of Purdey Best guns with the same date and non-consecutive serial numbers. SN: 23230 (gun #1) was completed August 1927 & 23566 (gun #2) was completed June 1928, the same date the sales records show they were both given to the client. 12 gauge side by side shotguns with 29" Whitworth fluid steel chopper lump barrels with 2 ¾" chambers and fixed chokes. Gun #1 measures .012/.034 & gun #2 measures .012/.029. Best grade engraved with traditional English rose and scroll, side lock assisted opening with double triggers, ejectors, automatic safety and cocking indicators. Both have highly figured Turkish walnut furniture with straight grip stocks, silver ovals, 15 ¼" LOP to a checkered solid butt and drop of 1 ½" to 2 ½". A gorgeous traditional matched pair in great condition. Comes with factory 2 gun oak and leather case and copies of the Purdey archive.
