About Us: First of all, thank you for your interest in my listing. I am an FFL Dealer in Connecticut, as well as a collector. The business name, Warthog Arms, is derived from my Air Force service as an avionic tech on A-10 Thunderbolts (also known as the Warthog). I always strive to go the extra mile to ensure a very satisfying transaction and have an established, trustworthy reputation. I also use GB for listings so if you would like to view my feedback, you can look me up in Advanced Search under Warthog-Arms. My current rating there is A+(160).

Description:
Own a piece of history with this authentic Walther P.38 AC45 pistol, manufactured in the desperate final weeks of WWII before the Walther factory was captured by Allied forces on April 4, 1945.

Warren H. Buxton (The P.38 Pistol, Volume 1, p187) refers to these as “First Variation: Nonstandard Issue”. This pistol’s serial number (3309c) falls at the transition from “Standard Issue” which had a general range of 1-3300c.

Late war Walther P.38s exhibited several features due to rushed production and relaxed standards, among them:
  • Rough metal finishing
  • Missing inspection marks
  • Use of parts w/o serial numbers
This pistol exhibits several interesting late war characteristics:
  • Matching barrel, frame and slide
  • 3-groove “new” hammer
  • Single (vs. double) waffenamt on slide, no military acceptance mark (Eagle over Swastika)
  • Locking block with no serial number and six-pointed star inspection stamp (typical of late war production, especially C-block range, which was never completed)
  • Hastily applied barrel serial number
This example is in overall fine condition. There is minor wear consistent with age and use.

Bore is pristine, bright with sharp rifling and no pitting.

The brown Bakelite grips are in very good condition with no cracks or chips.

Mechanics are excellent - I did not test fire it but flawlessly cycled a full magazine to test chambering/extraction.

The included magazine is correct, marked on one side with P.38 over U (denotes “unhardened” feed lips, a cost saving measure in late war production), “jvd” on the other (factory code for ENM, a Czech manufacturer supplying P.38 magazines during WWII). According to Buxton, these magazines were used by Walther starting in last quarter of 1944.

Overall, a great example of a Walther P.38 AC45 for your collection!
