Here’s a nicely preserved National Postal Meter-marked M1 Carbine with several desirable features for collectors and shooters alike. The receiver shows a clear armory cartouche, the barrel is an Underwood assembly stamped “4-43", and the receiver bears a P proof marking — all period features that add to this example’s provenance.
Cosmetic condition is very good: original parkerized finish with expected handling wear and light edge wear consistent with service use. Stock is sound with service marks and character but no cracks or major repairs. Bore is bright with strong rifling; the action cycles smoothly and the carbine is a reliable shooter. Included are two correct 15-round magazines and a period-appropriate leather sling (correct style but not the original issued sling).
This carbine will suit the collector seeking a well-marked WWII vintage piece or the shooter who wants a dependable historic firearm that still looks the part.
