Description:
This Colt Model 1911A1 was manufactured in 1943 with a 5" barrel and remains in very surplus condition. The left side of the slide is marked "PATENTED APR.20.1897. SEPT.9,1902 / DEC.19, 1905. FEB.14, 1911. AUG.19, 1913" with the "Rampant Colt logo" and "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.", and the top of the slide is marked "P" in front of the rear sight. The top of the frame is marked "M / G / B / B" at the disconnector. The left of the frame below the magazine release is marked with a "P" acceptance proof, the left side of the frame above the magazine release is marked "GHD". The left side front of the trigger guard is marked "P" and "VP" in a triangle. The right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY / No 924557" and "M1911 A1 U.S. ARMY", and "23" on the front of the trigger guard. The left lug of the barrel is marked "P" and the left of the barrel is marked "COLT 45 AUTO" above the lug. The front of the lug is marked "F / P". The front sight is a short-rounded blade. The rear sight is a "U" notch dovetailed into the slide. The grips are checkered brown plastic with circles around the grip screws. The screw heads are sharp with strong slots. The solid blued magazine is marked "R" on top toe for a Colt subcontractor "Risdon Tool & Machine Co.". .45 ACP
