Technically, MacNaughton was the pioneer in the trigger plate action arena. Having apprenticed at John Dickson, you can see the influences in the 2 designs. This shotgun features long, elegant lines with a couple uniquely MacNaughton features like the swing lever safety, unrestricted ejectors and long upper tang. The barrel has the inscription "James MacNaughton 26 Hanover Street Edinburgh & Perth". The barrels, water table, and top lever all are adorned by the number 2 which says this gun was part of a matched pair at one time. From a practical standpoint, the gun has amazing balance on the swing and also has some very useful chokes for Amercian wingshooting. Comes with a very nice substantial oak/leather case with cleaning rod and and tools.
