Description:
This is a great example of the other Scottish trigger plate manufacturer. Technically, MacNaughton was the pioneer in the trigger plate action arena. Having apprenticed at John Dickson, you can see the influences in the 2 designs.
This shotgun features long, elegant lines with a couple uniquely MacNaughton features like the swing lever safety, unrestricted ejectors and long upper tang. The barrel has the inscription "James MacNaughton 26 Hanover Street Edinburgh & Perth". The barrels, water table, and top lever all are adorned by the number 2 which says this gun was part of a matched pair at one time.
From a practical standpoint, the gun has amazing balance on the swing and also has some very useful chokes for Amercian wingshooting. Comes with a very nice substantial oak/leather case with cleaning rod and and tools.
