Description:
Stevens Model 44 chambered in 25-20 single shot (not WCF.) Very sound condition, action is tight, bore is better than most in this old black powder cartridge. Wear in the first 2" or so, then quite good. The barrel was cut to 22" at some time. The muzzle was not.perfectly square and that has been corrected.. Wood is very sound, typical marks except for the ding in the left side of the forend.. Maybe 50% colors on the action. Barrel retains about 50% blue. Sights are original, no Idea how long the tang sight (with flip down aperture) has been on, indications are quite a while.. Early gun judging by the low SN and 7 o'clock extractor.
