It’s an AR-pattern pistol made by Smith & Wesson (part of the M&P — Military & Police — family).
Chamberings are commonly .223 Rem / 5.56 NATO (confirm your exact model).
It’s a pistol version of an AR: short barrel(s) and no fixed stock — usually a buffer tube stub or castle nut area where a pistol brace or PDW adapter can attach (but exact geometry can vary by model).
Upper is normally a flat-top with a full Picatinny rail/handguard for mounting optics and accessories.
What that means for your parts (brace + Holosun)
Optic mounting
The M&P15 pistol has a flat top or top rail — the Holosun HE510-GR should mount to a standard Picatinny rail or via the correct adapter/footprint.
Confirm the Holosun footprint (Holosuns have different footprints/adapter plates). If your rail is Picatinny, you’ll generally be fine with a Picatinny-mount variant or mount adapter.
Brace attachment / buffer tube
Some M&P15 pistols use mil-spec buffer tubes, some use commercial—and some use proprietary endplates or short receiver geometry.
Do not assume every “AR pistol" buffer tube will accept every brace — check whether your pistol has a threaded receiver for a buffer tube or a fixed castle-nut area and confirm the brace model is designed for that tube or attachment method.
Controls & clearance
Check that the optic location won’t block your charging handle, ejection port, or controls. Low mounts can interfere; higher risers affect co-witness with iron sights.
