Description:
This is a very rare original butt plate for the 1st model Henry rifle. The first 5000 ( approx. ) had this style. The serial number of this one is 3833. This is in excellent overall shape, the trap door functions nicely. The patina, I would describe as a slightly darker brown mustard color. The engraving is beautiful, and could go well with either an engraved gun, or not engraved. I have compared this side by side with an early Henry and it is an exact match. Whether you need one now, for a later restoration , or to collect nice period pieces - these just don't come along often - Thanks
