Description:
A so-called petronel matchlock musket from the late 16th century (circa 1570).
The petronel musket owes its name and classification to its curved stock. Petronel comes from the French word poitrine, meaning "breast." The stock was held against the chest under the armpit and clamped there.

This musket is in good condition, with signs of wear consistent with a weapon of this age (repairs to the wood and wormholes). The lock still works perfectly and feels tight. The barrel is slightly pitted and retains the original square sight (the comb in the sight is missing, a small metal plate).

142 cm total length in 16mm caliber. Attached is the 1971 Wallis & Wallis catalog page where this musket was last sold.

Price: $6,500.00
