Description:
One of the best known of the highest quality American Single Barrel Trap Guns (as well as fine doubles) was the Baker Gun Co of Syracuse and Batavia NY. Its liniage is tied to both LC Smith and to Ithaca. In addtion to inovative designe incorporating some safety features in addition to the engraving known to be among the finast in America. R.K Kornbrath was one of Barkers engravers and among the finest in the world at the time; the accuracy and elegance of the lifelike pheasant and pointer are 2d to none. The Elite was their 2d highest grade and cost in approx 1915 $ 100.00 when a new model T Ford cost under $ 400.00
Elaborate checkering if very fine and looks to be 28 or perhaps higher lines per inch.
This fine unmodied and original example (only the checkering was re cut and pad added by Brian Dudley of NY) retailns almost full blue, and stock finish. Barrel is 32", LOP 14 1/2. DAC a little under 1 1/2 and at heel 2 or a bit over. The heavily figured stock is stunning , screws are good (a couple could be cleaned up a bit with a few mins time) and are properly oriented. Lever slightly right of center.
