Description:
Serial #17744, .45-2.4" (.45-90-550 Sharps / .45-80 Gov’t. Sharpshooter), 34" heavy target barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very handsome rifle that retains practically all of the original blue finish along the K.R. Bresien-made barrel, as well as vivid reapplied color case-hardening on the original Sharps-made frame and lever. The breechblock, trigger, and sliding safety likewise retain nearly all of an added high quality blued finish as well. The rifle is further outfitted with a modern spirit level front target sight, as well as a Vernier tang sight with adjustable aperture disk. The uncheckered walnut forend and pistol-grip buttstock have almost no handling marks or blemishes in the otherwise excellent semi-gloss varnish and there is lovely woodgrain throughout, as well as some attractive feathering in spots. The action is tight and functions flawlessly, and the rifle weighs 12 lbs 11oz. This is a splendid modern single-shot target rifle, built along classic lines, and is in excellent condition overall.
