Description:
Serial #533943, .45-70 Govt., 32 1/2" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has traces of mild freckling within the grooves. This late model Trapdoor has traces of the original blue remaining on protected areas of the barrel, with fading to mottled gray and plum-brown patina on the balance. The lock and receiver have a slightly lighter mottled brown patina, with some original blue still visible on the breechblock latch. Original color case-hardening is still present on the underside of the breechblock, with mottled freckling on the top surfaces. The walnut stock rates very good with numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes scattered throughout the added, slightly glossy varnish. The "SWP / 1891" cartouche and "P" firing proof are still clear and legible, and there is a large "14" rack or issue number on the left side of the butt. This is a nice looking, unit marked Trapdoor, and is in very good plus condition overall. Antique;
