Description:
General Specs: Marlin, 1938, .22S/L/LR, 6lbs. 1oz, LOP 13 1/4"
Serial Number:  HS 4784

Vintage Firearms is pleased to present a very well cared for Marlin Model 39 rifle, serial number HS 4784 built in 1938  The 24” octagon barrel has light handling marks, 98% dark factory blue, and a bright shiny 9.5/10 bore.  The Model 39 was a continuation of the Marlin Model 1897 and was produced from 1922 until 2007.  It was a takedown rifle, which facilitated thorough cleaning and easy travel when able to be stored in a smaller case.  The ability to fire all .22 rimfire ammo to include shorts, longs, and long rifles in any combination made it a very versatile rifle, the Model 39 was known to be a very accurate, full-size rifle as well. The HS in the serial number stands for “high speed,” in accordance to the rifle being designed for higher velocity .22 rounds. In addition to accuracy, ease of takedown, superb mechanics, a rather attractive rifle with its “S” shaped pistol grip, octagonal barrel, and later style full bayonet magazine tube.  This rifle has all factory original finishes, including the wood, with 97% case color that has begun turning to a nice patina, excellent screws, and the corresponding silver bead front sight and Rocky Mountain flat top rear sight.  Note the five pointed star under the hammer, utilized by the final inspectors to indicate this particular rifle was inspected and deemed to be a superior example in every way and thus marketed accordingly.  Examine the photos and you will see a very honest gun, with nearly 100% of the bolt blue still intact, very few handling marks in the wood, no real hard dings or marks in the wood, and the barrel and magazine tube with no rust, pits, or remnants of either. The stampings are clear and sharp.  We have priced the rifle to sell at a very fair rate, and this one will shoot well with its mirror bore rating 9.5/10. A great little shooter/collector that will increase in value as you enjoy it use.  Thanks for looking!
