The Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage is a lever-action rifle, famous for its strong, hammerless design and rotary magazine, which allows it to safely fire pointed bullets. The .300 Savage cartridge was developed to provide powerful performance similar to the .30-06 in a shorter case for medium-range big game hunting. The rifle features a cocking indicator, a safety mechanism on the lever, and was often produced with a 24-inch barrel, a steel butt plate, and checkered walnut stocks.
