Payment Types Accepted: Bank to bank wire transfer (preferred), or bank cashier's check only Description: Very nice and completely unaltered Winchester Model 54 in scarce .270 Win. caliber. These .270s are much harder to locate than 30-06, particularly in this collectible condition. S/N 38626A made in 1933. This is the latter of the eventual 2 standard rifle styles with its more refined stock which very closely resembles its immediate successor, the world reknown Pre War Model 70. These later rifles also had a ramped front sight base like a Model 70, instead of the smaller post style ramp with beaded blade insert of the earlier rifles. The barreled action and bolt show exceptional original bluing, approaching 98%. The component metals of floorplate/trigger guard, swivels, and buttplate show considerable flaking and blue loss. The wood is outstanding with hardly a mark on it beyond a very small gouge near the toe and a slight dulling of it's original finish. The barrel channel is good with no bedding, routing, or other issues. The rear receiver bridge remains correctly UNDRILLED. All components are original issue including the front and rear sights. This one has the factory installed long slide Lyman 48W receiver sight with all matching inner component #s. The barrel is 24" with an excellent shiny bore and all mechanical functions are smooth and proper. There were only about 50,000 Model 54s made in all calibers and grades, and of those, I would estimate that less than 20% remain collectible by any stretch of the imagination, the majority having been grossly modified. This one remains in excellent original condition, and is one of the best examples that you will see offered, especially in .270. Please add $100 for expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska.
