Merkel Model 140A .470 Nitro Express double rifle. Serial A470686 has 23.6-inch barrels (textured rib, brass-beaded blade front sight, sling loop, windage-adjustable rear sight assembly with one fixed express leaf and two folding notched leafs marked 50 and 75, ejectors). Features include a scalloped boxlock action, automatic safety, cocking indicators, articulated front trigger, walnut stock (wrap checkering, scalloped cheek rest, black grip cap, toe line sling loop and an added Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. Regulation and accuracy information is unknown. No box or papers are included. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 10.8 pounds and the length-of-pull is 14.2 inches. CONDITION: The bores are bright with tack-sharp rifling. There is no indication of roughness but the bores show a light brown discoloration when examined under focused bright light. Barrels are full on face. Metal and wood finishes are each approximately 99 percent. INCLUSIONS: A Negrini takedown case and 145 rounds of factory ammunition (40 rounds Barnes 500-grain TSX FB, 40 rounds Barnes 500-grain flat-nose solids, 40 rounds Hornady 500-grain DGX Bonded, 20 rounds Hornady 500-grain DGS and five rounds Kynoch 500-grain solids) are included.
