Description: SEDGLEY SPRINGFIELD SPORTER RIFLE R. F. Sedgley made a large number of Springfield sporters through the 1930's and the rifles are often referred to as "The Poor Man's G&H". This attractive rifle has 24" barrel marked "R.F. SEDGLEY INC. PHILA. PA. U.S.A.". A circled "S" and caliber are at rear. 1903 Springfield action has had S# removed and top of receiver ring stippled. A Lyman 48 receiver sight is fitted and Sedgley's number is stamped in cocking piece channel (matching number is on bolt). Bolt body is engine turned and bolt knob is checkered with two circular panels. Original two stage trigger and bottom metal are retained. Steel capped pistol grip stock of very attractive fiddle figured and broadly streaked European walnut measures 13-1/2" over black pad. Stock features shadowline right hand cheekpiece (only available with fancy wood upgrade), horn forend tip, sling studs, horn inserts over recoil bolt and point pattern checkering with deeply mullered borders. CONDITION: very fine. Appears to be essentially "as new" with only a few handling marks in all wood and metal finishes. The only feature that leaves one to believe that this attractive rifle is refinished or a reproduction is its relatively new type of solid black pad that was not available when Sedgley was in business. Bore is bright and shiny. Mechanically fine. .30-06 Springfield Price: $2,599.99 Metal Condition: very good Wood Condition: very good Bore Condition: Bore is bright and shiny Barrels: 24" barrel Triggers: Original two stage trigger Stock Dimensions: 13.5 Fore End: checkered wood Butt Pad: rubber Weight: 7 lb - 14 oz Sights: Lyman 48 receiver sight Item Location: La Vista, NE |
