Custom Mauser .416 Rigby Magnum. Consigned by the estate of the original owner sans supporting documentation and unsigned, the subsequent unattributed valuation makes this well-executed rifle a strong value. Serial 816182 has a 24-inch tapering barrel (.775-inch muzzle diameter, pop-up blade front sight with serrated release button and stippled ramp face, sling swivel stud, quarter rib with one serrated fixed express sight leaf supported by two folders marked 200/300). Features include a rust blue finish, single square bridge magnum action (9.25 inches overall length), integral mounting dovetails (rear ring and rib, .715-inch width at bite), checkered bolt knob (two bordered panels), two-position safety, drop box magazine and a Canjar trigger. STOCK: The strong-grained walnut stock, in appropriate profile for a dangerous game rifle, is appointed with a satin finish, generous fields of 24 lines-per-inch wrap checkering, double crossbolts, scalloped bolt release pedestal, steel grip cap, inletted and pedestaled toe line sling swivel stud and a Pachmayr recoil pad. CAPACITY: Five rounds (four plus one). The extractor “snaps over” rounds dropped directly into the magazine. Feeding, extraction and ejection are positive. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 11.0 pounds and the length-of-pull is 15.5 inches. CONDITION: The bore is superb. Mechanics are solid. Drilled/tapped receiver bridges were properly filled prior to customization and finishing (faintly visible). Metal finish is approximately 97 percent with trace indications of handling. Wood is at least 95 percent with some scattered impressions. No rings are present. The price is firm and layaway is available. $8,000 plus shipping.
