Description:
26 inch octagon barrel chambered in the scarce 40-70 WCF caliber. Research on the Model 1886 done by John T. Madl says only 862 were produced in .40-70 W.C.F. Bore has good rifling and fine roughness throughout. May clean up. Sights include a German silver blade front and sporting rear. Barrel and full length magazine tube are a thinning plum/brown color with good traces of blue in the protected areas. Forend cap has silvered out. Case colored receiver is silver/gray color with traces of colors on the hammer and lever. Crisp tight action. Walnut stock set is in good condition with the usual dings and handling mars. A couple of chips where wood meets the frame. Manufactured in 1891. Your opportunity to add a scarce caliber that is seldom seen or offered for sale to your collection.
