This rifle is brand new in the box.
The Winchester Model 1866 was a revolutionary design when it was first produced. It might not have been the first leaver action rifle, but it did give rise to the popularity of their design. At the time of the Model 1866’s introduction, single shot muzzle-loading rifles reigned supreme, and repeating rifles that used metallic cartridges were still considered a novelty. The Model 1866’s ability to fire over and over again without reloading gave it’s user a massive amount of firepower and a considerable advantage over those still using muzzle loading designs. They quickly gained a reputation for being reliable and accurate, and their bronze frame gave the rifle a yellow color, hence their nickname “The Yellow Boy.”
Uberti is offering the 1866 Yellow Boy Deluxe. This special edition rifle’s receiver features a beautiful series of engravings, meticulously copied from an original rifle from a private collection. The design shows a timeless acanthus-leaf motif on both sides. The left side of the receiver contains a medallion-shaped frame surrounding a bugling elk, while the right side has an escutcheon that may be left blank or engraved with the owner’s initials. All the work has been performed by the famed Atélier Giovanelli of Italy.
