These Colt pistols are very scarce. As the WWII ended, Colt never disposed of military spare parts. As Colt started commercial production, the company used many military components left over from war-time 1911A1 production. Since the Government Model was just a better finished 1911A1, these surplus parts were worked into commercial production as a cost saving measure. Only the earliest post-war commercial pistols are manufactured with nearly all military components. The frame also in production as a military part when the Army contract was canceled. The hammer, slide stop, safety, mainspring housing with lanyard loop, and stamped trigger are all military pieces as well. The stocks are likewise surplus WWII Coltwood plastic. The slide and tip of the muzzle are polished bright as was normal on commercial production. The This pistol is in excellent, new condition. I'd grade the factory blue finish about 99%+++ overall. The bullet feed ramp is properly milled in the white and internal wear patterns show that the frame, slide and barrel are all original to one another. The stocks are in new shape with no wear and free of cracks or chips. The mechanics are in perfect working order and the bore is excellent showing bright, sharp rifling. This hard to find Colt .45 variation were made between 1946 - 1947. This is an exceptionally nice example. ANY SPOTS ON THE PHOTOS ARE OIL RESIDUE. THE BLUEING IS PERFECT.
