Offered here is a beautifully crafted Denis Fontana / Armi Art Deluxe 16-Gauge Sideplated Over/Under, a fine example of modern Italian gunmaking built with traditional elegance and hand-finished artistry. Manufactured in 2002, this gun balances refined engraving, classic aesthetics, and excellent field performance. The 28" blued steel barrels are choked Modified (.018") and Full (.026"), making this an ideal upland or light sporting clays gun. Both bores are clear, the ejectors are strong and perfectly timed, and the action locks up tight with the smooth, confident feel one expects from a high-quality Italian over/under. At 7 lb 12 oz, the gun has just enough heft for steady swinging while remaining lively in the hands. The single selective trigger breaks cleanly, the safety operates smoothly, and overall mechanical function is excellent with only faint wear consistent with light, careful use.
The real highlight of this gun is the artistry. The sideplated action is case color hardened, retaining roughly 90% of its vibrant original mottling, and fully adorned with elegant rose & scroll engraving by master engraver E. Cabrioli, whose signature appears beside the trigger guard. The extended bottom tang adds to the traditional lines and showcases additional engraving detail. The deluxe walnut stock and forend feature a stunning grain pattern, sharp hand-cut checkering, and a classic orange recoil pad with black spacer. Light handling marks are present but minor, preserving the gun’s upscale appearance. The blued barrels remain at 98% finish, completing a superb presentation. This is a handsome, well-built, and finely engraved Italian over/under—an excellent opportunity to own a bespoke-quality 16-gauge from a respected artisan gunmaker.
