Description:
Serial #44, .44-100, 34" extra heavy target barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very handsome rifle built on a Steve Earle-made, Frank Wesson No. 1 (Alexander Henry) action. The action itself retains nearly all of the color case-hardened finish, with just a few hints of silvering along a couple of the edges. Likewise, the John P. King barrel retains a commensurate amount of the original blue finish, with some thin silvering at the muzzle, as well as a handful of faint hairline scratches at the breech just ahead of the frame juncture. The Circassian walnut forend and buttstock are in excellent shape with almost no handling marks or blemishes marring the otherwise excellent mate varnish finish, and both a globe front target sight and flip-up Vernier tang sight with adjustable aperture are installed. The action functions flawlessly, and the rifle weighs just a hair under 15 lbs. This is a splendid modern take on an Alexander Henry/ Frank Wesson type target rifle, in excellent condition, and would make a stellar addition to any collection. FFL;
