Description:
Mauser 4000 Factory Custom chambered in .222 Remington. This rifle has fine relief engraving and carved stock. It features a 19" tapered round barrel fitted with flip up rear and silver bead front sights. The top is stamped "KRUPP SPECIAL LAUFSTAHL". The caliber is marked at rear along with April 1972 German proofs. It has a Model 4000 action with front locking lugs, has Mauser marks on the left side wall and is fitted with scope bases with tip-off rings. The action is fitted with gold-plated double set triggers and bottom metal has relief embossed floor plate. The top of action and 4 inches along barrel are very nicely factory engraved with large, open shaded scroll with oak leaf accents. The tops of scope mounts are also engraved. This fine engraving extends to trigger guard bow and bolt shroud where scroll surrounds gold inlaid perching pigeon. The pistol grip stock of relatively plain European walnut measure 14-5/8 inches over a brown rifle pad. The stock features Monte Carlo comb swept right-hand cheekpiece, hard rubber grip cap and a forend tip. In place of checkering stock is nicely relief carved with well-done oak branches, leaves and acorns. A band of oak leaves is at the rear of the butt. The condition is exceptionally fine as it retains nearly all fine factory finishes on wood and metal. The edges of the floorplate and trigger guard show some silvering. The stock is exceptionally fine with only one minor mark on the left side bottom rear. The bore is bright and shiny, and it is mechanically crisp. No box. .222 Remington
