EXCELLENT COLT MODEL 1905 U.S.M.C. .38 DA REVOLVER, SN 3X, USMC #5XX. According to the latest information on these, only #1-812 went to the U.S.M.C. and those in the 10,000 range are all commercial revolvers. This one is a little bit of a mystery to me as I have studied it closely and it appears to be a brand new, mint condition example. If it has been restored, it was done by a true master like Turnbull Restorations etc. at great expense. Markings are all sharp, edges are very sharp, no buffed out areas or old rust/pitting with blue inside, beautiful Colt fire blue on the trigger, hammer back and screw heads, excellent correct walnut grips with the correct finish, color, checkering and fit. Bright exc. bore. The only part that appears unusual is the forward left flat of the upper trigger guard bow has an upside down triangle with an “M” in it proof stamping. Sharp rampant colt in circle on the left side of the frame, correct USMC markings with swivel on the butt, serial number in the frame, crane and latch match. Truly a gorgeous and super rare U.S.M.C. Colt that I am pricing as a restored example even though I question that!
