"s&w colt Serial number 171339. Made in 1897. 38-44 S&W caliber with a 7.5" barrel. This gun is in excellent condition as restored. The grips are hat appears to be Giraffe bone. The 38-44 S&W caliber is one of the more rare caliber with only 47 guns total made as Bisley flattops and only 66 guns total made in the Colt Single Action series. This gun comes with a factory letter confirming the caliber and configuration. It was shipped to William Reed and Son in Boston, Massachusetts on August 5th, 1897 with only one gun in shipment.
