Browning Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle in 45-70
This is a Browning 1886 Rifle in 45-70 with a 26" full octagon barrel, buckhorn adjustable rear sight and gold bead blade front sight. It has walnut stocks crescent rifle butt plate, the metal surfaces are finished in deep blue.
Condition:
The overall condition of this Browning 1886 rifle is excellent almost new. It appears this rifle wasn't used or if it was there is no evidence of it. It still has some of its original protective coating from when it was new on it. The stocks are in superb condition with some light bumps on the butt stock probably from storage. The overall metal surfaces are excellent with one spot of discoloration/oxidation on the upper right side of the lever, very minor.
The matching factory box is in excellent condition outside and in. There is some slight marks on the edges but the label is bright and clear. This rifle came out of a collection and it appears it was treated as a collector piece considering the shape of the rifle and the matching box. I have seen many of these Browning rifles and carbines over the years and usually have them in stock, most are in good condition. This one in particular is probably one of the best I have seen. These Browning 1886 rifles and carbines were Limited Editions made without the rebounding hammers and tang safeties that are incorporated into new production models. These Browning 1886 rifles, in my opinion, come the closest we can get to the original Winchester 1886 rifle. With the advantage that they are made with modern steel and are capable of full power 45-70.
