It features standard walnut stocks finger groove carbine forend and handguard retained by a single barrel band. It has a five shot fixed box magazine with a 22" blue steel round barrel. It is fitted with a pinned blade on base front sight and a ladder adjustable rear sight set in the hand guard. The Butt plate is a trapdoor type typical for this model. Sling swivels are absent and holes are present where they were in the stocks. Condition: The overall condition of this Winchester 1895 is good. The metal surfaces have some moderate wear on the barrel and action with the action softening to mostly gray finish. There is some finish loss on the saddle ring side of the action with the saddle ring creating a ghost ring where it wore against the action. There is some oxidation present on the butt plate and some places on the barrel. The stocks are in good condition as refinished and there are knocks and bumps present from use. The bore is good with some frosting and light pitting in places. These carbines are excellent field rifles because of their size. They were popular with the Texas Rangers along the border in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
