Description: Pair Holland & Holland rook rifles restored and rebored to .38 Long Colt (see related note). Imported by Cape Outfitters, serials 10917 and 10918 have 26-inch tapering octagon barrels (.670-inch at the muzzle flats, beaded blade front sights, matted ribs, drift-adjustable rear sight assemblies with one fixed and two folding leafs, ejector). Features include rust blue and color case, manual safeties and engraving with gold accents (gun number, “safe”). STOCKS: Forends are accented with ebony tips and dressed with wrapping flat-diamond checkering. Butts have color case plates (widow's peaks) and grip caps. DIMENSIONS: Individual weight is 5.0 pounds and lengths-of-pull are 14.7 inches. CONDITIONS as restored and rebored: Gun 1 - The bore is outstanding. Ejector and other mechanics operate properly. Barrel finish is approximately 95 percent with softened markings. Balance of blue is at least 95 percent. Colors are bright. Wood is approximately 97 percent with faint indications of handling. Gun 2 - As Gun 1 with wood of approximately 95 percent. AMMUNITION: Approximately 700 rounds of Western 150-grain jacketed round nose ammunition is included. CASE: What is thought to be the original case is present. Interior has been restored. Labels are intact with earlier caliber information. Exterior is as rough and cratered as Nancy Pelosi's neck skin due to improper storage. SAFETY NOTES: Bore dimensions are .345-inch (lands) and .350-inch (grooves). Rifles were not remarked with current caliber after reboring. Consigner states both are chambered for .38 Long Colt and were used as such. The included ammunition was provided by the consignor as part of the package. Each rifle was test fired with .38 Long Colt ammunition with no indication of case expansion, primer issues or difficulty with ejection. That said, as with all unmarked firearms it is recommended that these be examined and/or chamber cast by a qualified, professional gunsmith prior to loading or firing.
