Description:
EXTREMELEY RARE U.S. TEST KRAG JORGENSEN CARBINE ONE OF LESS THAN 100 MADE WITH CARBINE WITH PARKHURST STRIPPER CLIP PATENT.    Cal.30-40 serial . 280770.  Sit down its an unbelievable story. In 1899 a commission was put together to decide whether the "Krag" would benefit from the faster loading of a stripper clip. They set aside only 100 carbines and 100 rifles for the test. They then acquirred a small batch of a stripper clip assemby designed specifically for installing at the rear of the krag magazine. Then they proceeded to make a small nunmber of stripper clips designed for the 30-40 cartridge, and finally installed the parkhurst patent to a small quantity of rifles and carbines a part called  the "Parkurst patent device was installed. When the tests were finished it was decided stop the test and move forward with the adoption 1900-03 springfield. Of the 100 test carbines . 90 were destroyed it is estimated that about ten were put on the civilian market. This one of ten.. This minty rarity appears to be unfired. It has retained about 95+% of the original arsenal finnish. The little loss there is seems to be  entirely from age fading. There are no rust patches, scratches or blemishes of any type. The wood stock is similiar in condition, almost pristine.. The left side has the "Springfield cartouche" /dated 1900.. On the pistol grip has the inspectors stamp and the "Circle p proof. All parts are original to the gun.** the slide rail, bolt face,  follower and feed ramp show little if any use .The bore is quite bright with sharp well defined rifling and some very slight scattered frost.
It comes with the patent drawings and the article describing the army tests ???and the reason it was not adopted.
This is a rare chance for the very critical collector who who wants a great investment opportunity and an awesome centererpice for his collection .  Investment priced....$14,950.*** OBO
** The harmless white crayon is to show that all markings  are correct. It is easily removed with lighter fluid and a brush. We will do it on request.
*** 100% of the gun's price is satisfaction guaranteed for 5 days after receipt.
