Pape / Lancaster hybrid .300 Rook double rifle (action is W.R. Pape and barrels are Lancaster). Serial 8899 (2x: tang, barrel) has 28-inch barrels ("smooth oval bore rifling" rather than traditional rifling with lands/grooves, blade front sight, matted rib, rear sight with fixed and folding leafs, extractor). Features include engraving and a tang-mounted aperture. STOCK: Drawn from fine walnut, appointments include wrap checkering, semi-pistol grip and a serrated butt. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 6.2 pounds and the length-of-pull is 14.2 inches. CONDITION: A composed rifle, the doll's head extension from the original barrels was removed and permanently attached to the action. The bores and chambers are rough with moderate pitting. Barrels are on face. Mechanics operate properly. Metal finish has thinned and browned. Wood is approximately 60 percent. AMMUNITION: A sealed brick (200 rounds) of Kynoch with 80-grain HP bullets is included. SAFETY NOTES: It is not known who performed the build and/or modifications. Oval bore dimensions are maximum .290-inch. Consigner states the rifle is chambered for .300 Rook and used it as such. The included ammunition was provided by the consignor. That said, as with all altered firearms it is recommended that this rifle be examined and/or chamber cast by a qualified, professional gunsmith prior to loading or firing.
