Description:
VERY HIGH CONDITION REMINGTON MODEL 24 IN RARE .22 SHORT WITH SHELL DEFLECTOR, #8XXX AND BARREL CODE OF “PN” INDICATING A FIRST YEAR PRODUCTION OF JUNE, 1922. This Browning designed semi-auto model was made from 1922-1935. Serial numbers ran from 1-over 130,000. Made in .22 Short and Long Rifle chamberings, the .22 Short is considerable more scarce. Many of the Shorts went to shooting galleries and carnivals where they were rarely cared for and are now in horrible condition. This example retains nearly all the original blue and is further enhanced by having the “optional” shell deflector. The wood is excellent showing the lightest of handling only. Original sights and even the smooth steel butt plate shows fine blue. Tight action, tight takedown, safety functions properly and bright excellent bore. One of the earliest and best of these I’ve seen. Very few auto loading rifles in .22 Short have been manufactured in the U.S. (only the early Winchester M-74 comes to mind). This nearly 104 year old M-24 would be hard to improve upon.
