US Model 1861 Civil war contract musket by William Muir & co. Dated 1863. The full 3 band dark walnut stock is in good condition with 2 cartouches and shows normal military use with scratches and dents. The full length 40" 58 caliber barrel has both front and rear sights. The bore shows good rifling but is dark and dirty in need of cleaning. The functioning 2 click lock is Marked US Wm. Muir and Co. Windsor Locks. Ct. 1863. All metal parts are dark brown with some pitting on the breach an top of the lock otherwise mostly smooth. The gun is complete with sling swivels and ramrod and would rate antique good condition.
