I have a very nice early Marlin model 1894 in 38/40 caliber. Manufactured in 1895, it has a standard 20 inch barrel that is octagon, and has 7/10 bore. The metal has a very smooth finish and the wood is in good condition. The lever action is very smooth and tight. Very well preserved rifle
