I’m going to lead this off and let you know this is not an unbiased write-up. I love Beretta’s always have.  I have wanted an EELL since I was a kid.  They are all handsome guns, and this one is no exception.  The focal point of any 687 EELL is the hand engraved sideplates.  This example hosts game scenes on each side, with a hen and drake mallard taking flight from a marsh on the left, three woodcock swooping down in a field on the right, with a single flying woodcock in front of a tree branch, underscored by the maker name, model, and grade on the bottom of the frame.  Surrounding the game scenes you’ll find intricate scroll and borders.  Additional floral scrollwork can be found on the trigger guard, forearm irons, forearm latch release, and the top lever which lands well right of center.  Both sets of barrels have mirror bores, screw-in chokes in a variety of constrictions, ventilated matte ribs with a white front bead, and blue that is 99+%, both barrels have their own forends.  Another telltale design feature of the 687 EELL is the Schnabel forearm, which in this instance, along with the buttstock, hosts a point pattern of engraving, that is hand-cut, with sharp double borders and is signed by the artist Bottega C. Giovanelli. The premium grade walnut’s grain pattern looks like the water flowing through a river, with a variety of layers and textures in the grain that gives a rich depth and warmth to the gun. This gun is a looker, obviously, but it is a shooter as well.  It is at home on the clays course as well as in the field with its balance and pointability.  VFI provides the most thorough photos, description, and specifications in the industry, providing you all the information you need to make a wise purchase. Don’t hesitate to make the call and put this gun in your collection.  The specifications are shown below.
