Here is a shotgun that requires no introduction- a Belgian Browning Superposed Lightning in 20ga. These are quite possibly the finest production O/U shotgun available in the day, and this is a svelte little bird gun that will quickly become the favorite in any wingshooter’s safe.
Dating to 1961 from the 5-digit serial number, this beautiful Superposed Lightning sports 26” barrels, choked Full over Modified, a beautifully checkered field style forearm, and handsome prince of wales gripped stock. The chokes are ideal for someone looking to chase anything from pheasant to chukar, and the 3” chambers add to the versatility of this gun. While I shoot a gun only a few numbers apart from this one regularly, I think that this gun would impress any shooter on the pattern board with consistent patterns that allow you to get as much out of the 20ga cartridge as possible.
Overall, this is a splendid little gun, quick to the shoulder, and easy to carry through whatever cover you may find yourself gunning in. This gun shows typical wear from a previous owner who enjoyed and cared for it, with bluing wear evident on the belly of the receiver as any Superposed that’s been carried a bit has, and some small wear on the barrels from the forearm, as well as one spot by the muzzle, which I have pictured. Bores are extremely clean, and this gun locks up tight and on face, with a crisp trigger. The wood is in very nice condition, with some minor field wear present and pictured.The checkering is crisp and clean, and the stock is an attractive straight grained and reddish toned walnut.
