This Smith & Wesson Model 59 was introduced in 1971, and was one of the first high-capacity 9mm luger, Double-action/Single-action semi-auto pistols widely adopted by law enforcement and civilian shooters in the United States. It features a 14-round double-stack magazines, an aluminum alloy frame for reduced weight. Known for its reliability, soft recoil, and ergonomic grip, the Model 59 served as a direct predecessor to the Smith & Wesson's highly successful 2nd and 3rd generation 9mm pistols.
