This is a truly handsome engraved revolver that retains 50-60% of the original bright blue finish with the balance turned to a dull, pewter gray patina. The barrel retains most of the lustrous original blue, with gray fading along the edges of the barrel facets and at the muzzle. The retailer marking is engraved along the top barrel flat: "S. Grant 67A St. James St. LONDON." Some further original blue remains on the rear portions of the scrollwork embellished frame, and the usual Tranter "football" marking is present on the left side of the barrel juncture. The cylinder is a smooth, fairly bright gray overall, with crisp engraving around the circumference. The finely checkered walnut grip has small handling marks and blemishes scattered about, as well as some mild flattening of the points on a few areas. The action lock-up is still tight, and the mechanism is fully functional. This is a fabulous Tranter cartridge revolver, in fine-excellent condition. Antique; Price: $2,895.00 Antique: Yes |
