FRONTIER Hideout BACKUP PIECE Handgun Here Ancestry Guns presents an antique Low Serial Number Colt New Line .32 Rimfire Revolver, made in 1873 in Hartford, Connecticut. A single action revolver, this small pocket revolver was one of a number of inexpensive handguns produced by Colt from 1873 to 1884. The “New Line” was Colt’s first production model handgun chambered for .32 caliber. The New Line series of revolvers, including all calibers, was a single action pocket revolver introduced by the Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company. Two years after the Colt House Revolver, a year after the Colt Open Top, and almost simultaneously alongside the Colt Peacemaker, the Colt New Line was one of the first metallic cartridge, rear-loading revolvers manufactured by Colt. Here's a neat fact. An example of a Colt New Line made an appearance in the 1963 cult horror film, “The Terror.” The film stars an unrecognizably young Jack Nicholson and his character, Lt. Andre Duvalier, wields a Colt New line for a moment of self-defense. The plot is set in 1806, so if the director or producer finds out that the first European contracts were issued in 1835, it might ruin the realism they were going for. The overall condition is fine. Original blue. The action is excellent. Mostly bright bore with strong rifling, slightly dimming towards the muzzle. Fine grips. Markings are legible. Numbers match. Here is a very handsome and collectible specimen of the Colt New Line .32! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 2-1/4 inches.
