Combined with the patented lever-grip under-lever (one smooth pull opens the gun), this represents the pinnacle of late-Victorian shotgun innovation.
Built as a wildfowling gun with light Cylinder/Cylinder chokes and 2 3/4" chambers, it remains perfectly usable today with modern 2 3/4" 10-gauge loads (or black-powder equivalents). The action is still tight on face, the crystals are clear and unbroken, and the Damascus barrels retain vivid pattern under an honest patina.
Fewer than a handful of 10-gauge Crystal Indicator guns are known in private hands – most surviving examples are 12-bore.
