Who was Lee Deters? From 1982 to 1987 he was the President of S&W. He died in 11/07 and this revolver was consigned by him to an site about a year before his death. It is an excellent to minty , as you see it, all presented in a custom hand made presentation case. The sale includes a blue S&W factory box that is tagged to the gun, but not period, nor correct. It is a 1917 Commercial Model revolver chambered in .45 acp caliber and .45LC, supposedly built and finished at S&W, likely done by the Custom Shop. As you can see, it has dual cylinders, both numbered to the gun, and two barrels, the barrel on the gun is a Model 1950 barrel, .45acp, the other is supposedly the original barrel, chambered in .45LC. The grips are as new original, not numbered to the gun. It was certainly refinished, appears to have been in such nice condition that it shouldn't have needed it. The quality of the finish tells me it was done by Smith. Overall condition is truly gorgeous and minty. Extra cylinder is rebated around its rear circumference to provide clearance at the cylinder stop. Virtually new with minimal wear on ejector rod and just a hint of a turn ring. As shown, included is a new in the wrap and very hard to find S&W Wondersight, with directions. Nice bit of scrimshaw as well. make sure and look at the pictures as they show color and condition.
