For sale is an exceptional Winchester Model 42 Trap Grade, serial number 21143, factory-marked “TRAP” on the receiver. This is a premium early-production example featuring highly desirable configuration and upgrades sought after by advanced collectors.
This Model 42 showcases a stunning feather?crotch English walnut straight grip stock with excellent figure, paired with the classic double diamond checkered forearm. The donut post ventilated rib is present—one of the most iconic and collectible rib styles Winchester ever offered on the Model 42. The bolt and lifter both retain their factory jeweling, adding to the gun’s originality and desirability.
Barrel length is 28", marked 3" chamber, with factory chokes appropriate for Trap Grade. Sighting consists of a Bradley red front bead paired with a brass mid bead. Length of pull measures 14 1/8", drop at heel is 2 1/8", and drop at comb is 1 1/2". Cast is neutral. Bluing remains excellent with only minimal handling evidence, and wood condition is consistent with careful use and high preservation.
