Savage 93R17 – 17 HMR – 21" Heavy Barrel – 5+1 – Bushnell Scope
The various 93R17 models from Savage were inexpensive but effective varmint and pest killers. They certainly aren’t high end rifles but the do shoot nicely and the adjustable trigger lets you really dial in your preference on how easy the trigger breaks. Our rifle is serial number 2126158. We do not have a date of manufacture.
The 21 inch heavy barrel is nice because when dealing with pests or varmints, you may have to take a number of shots in a very quick manner. The heavy barrel will hold your accuracy while you continue to blaze away.
As mentioned above, this rifle has the Savage adjustable Accutrigger and it has a very nice feel to it. The bolt operates smoothly. A two position safety is located just behind the bolt handle.
These models were produced with no sights but, not to worry, a Bushnell 3-9 scope is already mounted. The glass and reticle are both clear and the magnification adjustment works as it should. The exterior of the scope looks great as well.
The wood on this one is in Excellent condition. In fact, the original stickers from the factory are still on the wood. The metal finish does have several areas of finish loss and some light surface oxidation. We’ve done our best to show these areas but they are: Mid-length top of barrel, top of barrel just forward of the receiver, the underneath side of the barrel (primarily towards the muzzle) and the muzzle itself. Please take a good look at the photos so that you’ve looked at those areas.
This rifle, overall, would make a great platform for clearing out pests. The ballistics of the 17 HMR are great in this role and the rifle is an inexpensively priced option.
