This single-shot target pistol is described on the bottom of page 1892 of 44th edition of Blue Book of Gun Values. It is between 102 and 116 years old. It remains tight and functions correctly. It is in exceptionally good condition for its age. It appears to have been shot mostly by a right handed person as loss of bluing is noticable on the left side of the barrel. There may be some light pitting within about a few mm of the muzzle on the left side of the barrel. Otherwise there is minor loss of finish on high points. The bore is bright. I do not see evidence of scratches and nicks that appear to have been blued over. The S&W trademark stamp is clear as is the printing that is stamped on the top and side of the barrel, but not as sharp as they are on modern S&W handguns. There is very minor freckeling (where bluing has flaked off, leaving bright metal). There are some light scratches and small nicks in the metal. There is no damage to the breech face from dry firing. The grips show signs of use, but no cracks or significant dents.
