Description:
The Stevens Crack Shot rifle was introduced by Stevens Arms in 1890 as an inexpensive "Boys Rifle". In 1912, it was redesigned with an under-lever action and designated as the Model 26, the version that is often referred to as the "Crack Shot Model 26" and was produced until 1939, though there was a brief modification period in 1943. This rifle was a low-cost, single-shot takedown model.
History of the Stevens Crack Shot:

  • Introduction (1890)
The original Stevens "Crack Shot" was released as a single-shot Boys Rifle, initially featuring a side-lever for its breechblock.
  • Model 26 Redesign (1912)
The rifle underwent a significant redesign, with a new action and a new under-lever mechanism. This new version was designated as the Model 26.
  • Production Period
The Model 26 was produced from 1912 until production ceased in 1939, with a brief run of a modified version in 1943. It was a budget-friendly option that was popular in the United Kingdom, where it was sold to encourage rifle clubs to teach shooting skills.
  • Action Type
This rifle used a falling breech block action, similar to the Stevens Favorite, and was made from a modification of the 'Little Scout' action. This rifle has been test fired and fires and functions as it should.
