Chokes Q1/Q2; LM/IM, LOP 14 5/8", DAH 2 5/16", DAC 1 7/16" Serial Number: F206087 This modern Fox brings together the romance of the Fox brand, design, and style, in a gun with some of the most lifelike gold inlay engraving I have seen. Gold inlay details can be found at various points around this firearm. The muzzle of each set of barrels is decorated with a gold band, leading a wedge of scroll engraving. The barrels have bright mirror bores, and the deep blue finish is 99+%. The right barrel is marked Krupp-Fluid-Steel and the left Made to Order-A.H. Fox, nearing the breech you’ll find more scroll coverage, a breech border of gold inlay and a gold lightning bolt as well. The barrel fences are deep relief engraved with oak leaves and acorns. The factory case color is 100% under detailed and delicate scroll and borders covering the frame, trigger guard, top and bottom tangs, and the top lever. Inlaid on each side of the box lock you’ll find the moniker, Ansley H. Fox, as well as a beautiful setter on the left, and spaniel on the right. On the bottom of the frame a circle is inset with a sturdy lab. The field scene engraving behind each dog is so delicate, you must look closely, but when you do, you’ll appreciate the incredible mastery that is on display. On the top lever a quail stands tall, and a field scene of a grouse is in flight, set into the trigger guard. The forend has an ebony wedge that is formed to create a nice hold point for your pointer finger, giving a secure feel when mounting the gun. The forend iron, escutcheon and latch are all beautifully case colored and engraved with scrolls and borders. The highly figured exhibition Turkish walnut is expertly checkered in a borderless fleur-de-lis pattern. The pistol grip cap is marked A.H. Fox Gun Co. Philadelphia PA. The stock is finished with beautifully engraved heel and toe plates, exceptional checkering and fleur-de-lis motifs. This stunning gun is displayed in its maker’s case. If you are looking for an eye-catching shotgun for your collection, this lovely 28 gauge should be at the top of your list for consideration.
